We are offering a Power of an Active School twilight session on 24 Janurary 2019. This is aimed at all teaching staff, support staff, Headteachers and Governors in the development of healthy active lifestyles across a school. It will support schools to increase physical activity throughout the school day to boost health and academic achievement for their students.
With an ambition for primary schools to achieve 30 Active Minutes in school per day, the Power of an Active School will allow schools to look at their own context focuses on increasing physical activity across the entire school day and strategies for increasing physical activity levels in classroom lessons. The evidence shows that the impact of physical activity, especially physical education, improves behavior in classrooms and is a boost to academic achievement, especially math’s related skills and reading leading to happy, healthier and successful learners. This workshop would be an ideal introduction to assist with gathering evidence of the relationship between active lifestyles and the impact on attainment.
Outcomes from the session:
- Advocate why high levels of physical activity across the school day lead to healthier and more effective learners
- Reflect on how effective their current provision is at promoting physical activity throughout the school day
