Certificate or Award? Multi-Skills Development Offer

In September, 1st4Sport qualifications are releasing the 1st4Sport Level 2 Certificate in Multi-Skills Development in Sport. This new qualification is ideal for coaches who are at the beginning of their coaching journey and don’t currently meet the pre-requisites for the Level 2 Award in Multi-Skills Development in Sport (i.e. level 2 coaching qualification).

Supporting Physical Education in Schools

Last month, we delivered the 1st4Sport Level 3 Certificate in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport at our offices in Birmingham. Attendees were from a variety of coaching and teaching backgrounds.
The qualification gives an insight into;

  • How schools operate
  • Policies and legislation
  • Communication skills
  • Safeguarding
  • Child development
  • Assessment for learning
  • Planning and evaluating a block of 6 progressive lessons

The practical observations give feedback and ideas for improving teaching techniques and lesson structure in line with government and AfPE guidance.  The qualification also gives coaches a chance to share ideas, issues faced and solutions, with each other and the tutor.
The AfPE and the government guidance for schools is that all coaches teaching PE lessons in schools should be at least Level 3 PESS. The qualification is ideal for those looking to be employed in school sport and can also support learners to become qualified Teaching Assistants (TA) or Higher-Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA).
