Great atmosphere at the boys Basketball School Games competition

Bishops wordsworth 2What a great atmosphere there was in the sports hall at St John’s Academy for the 4th Winter School Games competition this year. It was buzzing with excitement for the Boys Basketball Level 3 School Games Competition.

The 5 schools from across the county who had won their way through to this county final, showed great sportsmanship and the standard of play was excellent. There were some close games and some fast play which made for a very exciting afternoon.

Walter Amos the referee kept everyone in check and was supported by 3 of the Young Sports Leaders from St John’s Academy who did an excellent job of manning the scoring table.

It was clear from their first match that, defending champions, Bishop Wordsworth were the team to beat. They won all their matches comfortably although Bradon Forest put up a great fight in the deciding game.

Mrs Edmondson the principal of St John’s Academy was pleased to be invited to present the medals and trophy to the winners. She commented, “It is a privilege to be able to host such a high standard competition and also be asked to present the medals, well done to everyone who took part.”
