Frequently Asked Questions
Please find below some frequently asked questions and our replies to them. If you have a question that is not covered here, please email email@example.com or call 07857 671089.
Q: I am having difficulty uploading a video online - what should I do?
A: The larger the size of your video file, the longer it will take to upload. Please make sure that you give the video a few minutes to upload. If it still doesn't work, you can send it to us by email to firstname.lastname@example.org (you could use mail drop, google drive, Dropbox or WeTransfer for this). Please make sure that you state in your email that the parent/carer has given permision for the images to be used online.
Q: I do not have a device that can record video - can I still take part?
A: If you would like to take part in the Wiltshire Virtual School Games competitively then we will need a video of your entry so that we can verify the results. But if you are happy just to take part and be involved then that's great too and you can send us a photo instead to share your experience? You can upload this online when you send us your entry.
Q: My timing device only counts seconds, with no decimal places. Is this OK?
A: Yes! We have asked for times to be given to 2 decimal places where possible so that we can identify winners in each category. If this is not possible and your timing device only shows seconds, then that’s absolutely fine and send us your result in whole seconds. If the task takes over a minute, please don't worry about decimal places and just measure in minutes and seconds.
Q: i do not have consent from a child's parent to share photographic images. what should i do?
A: We ask for a video so that we can share the experience with others and to verify the results. You need parental consent to send us images that identify the child, but if you take a video of just their feet/legs or hands/arms, then you do not need consent. A young person aged over 13 is able to give their own consent for us to use their image. If you would like to send us a video just for verification purposes but you do not want us to share it, please email your entry to email@example.com making this very clear in the email.
